Governed by Sound Reason and True Religion. S2. EP. 2

In this episode, the clones are presented with another possible threat. Up to this point, the Dyad Institute has been exploiting the clones and invading their privacy. This problem is evident again in episode 2. After Alison sees text messages on Donny's phone, which seem to be direct orders on dealing with Alison, she begins to suspect her own husband may be her "monitor." Shortly after, Alison goes to visit Aynsley's burial sight, but only as a way to lure Donny there. Of course, she ends up catching him as he awkwardly talks his way out of it, but I found this to be a pivotal moment. The clones have dealt with constant skepticism over who could possibly be individually monitoring them, and Alison's husband being her monitor will certainly lessen their trust. At this point, the characters must be open to any possibility in the grip of the Dyad Institute.

The new conflict we are introduced to in this episode is the intervention of the Proletheans. Though we aren't given much information on this group, we learn that they are an extreme religious group who are against human cloning. We also learn that Tomas, a Prolethean, trained Helena to hunt and kill the other clones. Moving forward, the clones will have to worry about the Proletheans killing them as well as learning more about the institution that controls them. The Proletheans are an interesting and subversive addition to the plot considering that we have one group of people pushing for synthetic biology, and another who opposes it so fervidly that they will resort to murder.
